iComic Press - Registration Agreement Terms & Conditions
Before you can create an account we need to make sure you understand the
rules, especially if you intend to make a comic and publish it though
us. So this is the agreement.
This agreement defines the terms and conditions under which you may use the website and all software involved in it. You may not use the site without agreeing to these terms. The agreement is between you, the user, and the iComic Press based in London, UK and as such you agree that any disputes will be resolved in the UK courts.
Changes To This Document
- We reserve the right to make changes to this document at any time. Announcements will be made in the forum system, and continued use of the system will indicate acceptence of the new terms. We'll give at least a months notice of any changes.
Definitons:
- "You" shall mean the icomicpress user.
- "We"/"Us" shall mean the iComic Press, the sole proprietor and operator of which is

Data-protection/Privacy Policy:
- The iComic Press is registered under Data Protection act in the UK.
- You agree to us keeping your details on file in a computer, including setting a session-cookie on your machine.
- We will not release or sell this information to any third party unless required to do so by law.
- Information we keep:
- Username/password
- Publically viewable profile information (not compulsary)
- Account information: Transaction time/value/type/balance
- Comics information: Ratings, sales, downloads etc.
- SMS-billing: phone numbers sending txts.
- Preference settings
- IP addresses posting content to the messageboards.
- Information we don't keep:
- Cookies
- Cookie information is stored on your computer. This is just a session code and contains none of your personal information.
Conduct on website:
- You are respnosible for maintaining the confidentiallity and security of your username/password.
- You agree not to use the website in any way that causes, or may cause, access to it to be interrupted, damaged or impared.
- You agree not to use the website for Fraud, Crime or Unlawful Activity.
- You agree not to post anything illegal, offensive, abusive, indecent, defamotory, obscene, meanacing or in breach of copyright to the message boards. You further agree not to post viruses, policial campaigning, comcercial solicitaion, chain letters, mass mailing or Spam.
- Content submitted to the message-boards implicitly grants us non-exclusive royalty-free perpetual irrevocalbe rights to use, modify, adapt, publsh, translate, create devrivative works from, distribute and display the content worldwide.
- You agree that the posts made to the messageboard are the opinions of the poster, not those of the iComic Press, and that the author is therefore responsible for the content.
- You agree that the accout may be terminated for misconduct at any time. If it holds more than 5000 credits we'll try and refund some money to you. If less that money will be forfited as administation costs. If the misconduct is judged to be serious, we may forward IP address information to a service provider or the legal authorities.
- We do NOT read or review every comment on the messageboards or every line in every comic. If you beleive that any content is offensive and illegal, notify us by emailing the details including the URL the content can be seen from to abuse@icomicpress.com and we'll review it within a week and remove it if we agree.
- The website, it's code and it's content, are the property of the icomicpress and are protected by British and international copyright and database law. You may not extract and/or reuse parts of this website without explicit permission.
- Some parts of the website are based on software covered by the GPL. Although we never distribute software based on the GPL, we will make our changes to that software available on requst.
- Icomicpress reserves the right to alter the website, including these terms and conditions at any time.
Buying comics:
- You may buy comics with the credit in your account.
- You may add credit to that account with creditcard/paypal.
- You agree any comics you buy are brought at your own risk. If you don't have a capeable phone, the iComic Press is not responsible if the software does not work. We suggest you download and test a free comic of similar size before you buy a pay-comic.
- You agree not to distribute the comics, perform them publically or copy them without permission from both the iComic Press AND the artists responsible for the comic.
Making comics:
- You agree not to upload anything without permission from copyright holder.
- You Agree that you retain the copyright on all files you upload, and on the scripts produced by the script-editor.
- You agree that you are responsible for backing up your own data. The fileuploader allows you to save any file in your comic, this can be used to keep local copies of all the files, including the scripts.
- You agree that the iComic Press retains the copyright on all the code used in the comics, including the java midlet that controls the comic on a phone and the java applet that controls the comic on the web.
- Since the finished comics copyrights are jointly held between you and us, we need each others permission to PUBLISH or DISTRIBUTE, a full comic. Neither of us may do so without the others permission.
Selling comics:
- You grant the iComic Press permission to publish your comics by clicking the 'make public' box on the site. It will be published under the current prices, payment methods etc. You may withdraw permission by unchecking that box at any time.
- Revenue division: You will recieve 40 credits per comic brought, divided between artists as indicated by RevenueSharer. This credit will be added to your iComic Press account.
- We may change revenue divison figure, up or down, at any time. Announcements will be made in the forums if we do so, and at least 28 days notice will be given. If you object you may remove permission for us to publish by unchecking the relevent box.
- Once your iComic Press account is over 5000 credits you may cash in that credit at the rate of 1p per credit. You must withdraw at least fifty pounds=5000 credits to make the transaction worthwhile. Write to us and we'll send a cheque or money order, though other methods may come available later.
- You agree I may withdraw publication at any time for any reason.
